Our commitment to Sustainability extends to our business's operations too!

  • Green Business Certification Kuleana Green Business Program
    • Sustainable Island Products received the Kuleana Green Business Program award from the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce. We are proud to be a member of this progressive program highlighting companies that "set high standards of integrity, commitment and respect in their engagement with employees, customers, community, and the environment."   • Carbon Neutral Transport Drive Neutral Certified
    • Our company vehicles are "carbon neutral" by our purchase of a certificate from Live Neutral, an organization that buys carbon credits from the Chicago Climate Exchange to help companies offset their business, vehicle or travel related carbon emissions.
  • True Offsets Member True Offsets
    • As part of our commitment to operate as a "Zero-Waste" business, Sustainable Island Products has funded the planting of a Koa tree on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii to offset our business's carbon footprint. Read more about the program Here.
  • Product Packaging Reclamation
    • As a free service to our customers who opt-in, we pick-up the used boxes that our product is delivered in to insure reuse and/or proper recycling.
    • At our warehouse facilities we recycle all our pallet wrap and pallets in partnership with Business Services Hawaii. This is an important element of our businesses Zero-Waste operations plan. New Leaf Paper
  • Office Supplies
    • We utilize (and distribute) New Leaf Paper, a 100% post consumer waste office paper.
    • We recycle all office paper & printer cartridges.
  • Corporate Accountability
    • We encourage our office supply providers to practice environmental stewardship by being accountable to the products they put into the HPmarket. For example, in 2007 we sent a request to HP to evaluate the effectiveness of their ink toner cartridges that we buy for our printer. It seems that the packaging for these cartridges is excessive for the amount of ink/life span they provide. This is the image we sent showing our 6 month usage.
    • 2009 UPDATE: We recently saw that HP has introduced a HIGH VOLUME ink cartridge for this printer line.
